Geek Chic Cosmetics: The One Ring and You Best Pray I'm Dead

Little Red Riding Hood

In a course of American literature, I was made to read Angela Carter's version of Little Red Riding Hood - a few short stories in her collection "The Bloody Chamber".
It made me realise a few things about the story, that I had read many times as a child, and I never liked the story until I read her version of it.
It makes the wolf and the girl both into two quite distinctly unpleasant characters and makes them in a way a couple - two lovers. It's a feministic reading of the fairytale, but even to someone who prefers not to read too deeply into feministic literary theory, this story struck me hard in my heart.

Weights weights weights

I bought wrist weights from Fitnesstukku.fi and started using them as ankle weights here at home. Both are 2 kilos, but it still feels like nothing yet. Hopefully soon, after running the stairs up and down all day long, I'll start noticing my muscles getting tired. Of course they won't get tired with me just sitting here and writing this, so I'll keep this short and just show you the picture:

Makeup Review: Geek Chic Cosmetics

Geek Chic Cosmetics is by far my favourite indie makeup brand, and this was my second order from them. I have already done one review in my previous blog, but I think a new one is in order.
First of all I only ordered colours I needed - colours I would use on a regular bases or that would emphasise the ones I already have.
Second of all, I ordered a lot of make up, the whole set of Lord of the Rings, so I'm not going to name them all.

However, I have tried to keep them somewhat in order when you see the swatches on my arm. Some aren't as visible as others, since they are very pale colours. But I only used a small amount and they are extremely pigmented.

So on to the plusses and minuses!
+ easy to order
+ fast order delivery
+ free swatches with order
+ very pigmented colours
+ loads of glitter
+ a huge amount of colours to choose from

- packaging is a bitch - the envelope is very tight and each colour is sealed with plastic (I broke my nail trying to open them)
- company in the US - border control wants a piece of the cake so big orders equal big taxes
